VOXL2 Carrier Board Integration

We will want to connect the VOXL2 through the J3 & J5 ports on the board

J3 Connector Pinouts

J5 Connector Pinouts

There is also an overview on how expander board creation works. That is linked here

Power

We will be powering the VOXL2 from the J5 VDCIN_5V, specifically 5V @ 6 amps We will connect 5V to Pins A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D1, and D2 on the VOXL2 board, with GND connected to A3, A4, B3, B4, C3, C4, D3, and D4.

Pin A1 is pin 1, Pin B1 refers to Pin 31, C1 is pin 61, and Pin D1 is Pin 91.

USB HUB

The VOXL 2 has only one USB interface on port J13. To Connect the Doodle Radio and the Camera to the VOXL's USB, you will need a USB Hub integrated into the carrier board.

Connect the USB Hub's power to the 5V Power supply Pin 18 for GND and connect the GND to the 5 V Power supply's ground Pin 12 for USB- Pin 14 for USB+ Pin 20 for SS_TX - Pin 22 for SS_TX + Pin 32 for SS_RX - Pin 34 for SS_RX +

Doodle Radio

We will be connecting the doodle radio to the VOXL2 over a USB 2.0 connection. This will be connected to J3 on the VOXL2. The Connections for an SRM radio can be seen in the next page. This will be connected to the USB Hub on the carrier board.

Camera

The camera will be connected over USB 2.0 connection, due to the VOXL2 having a single USB interface we will be connecting the USB Camera to the USB Hub on the carrier board.

Cube Connection

The cube will be connected over UART connection.

The UART Connection will be through the J3 Port as well. If ground is needed then connect Ground to Pin 1. Connect Rx to Pin 5 as this is the TX for the VOXL2's J3 Port. Then connect TX to Pin 3 on the VOXL's J3 port. This will result in the Cube being located at /dev/ttyHS1 in Linux on the VOXL2 Pin 1 for Ground Pin 3 for TX -> VOXL's RX Pin 5 for RX -> VOXL's TX
